BECCA Ultimate Matte Lip Colour Reviewed: Amelia, Aurora, Adele.

Oh my goodness I am so smitten.

Amelia, Aurora, and Adele Ultimate Matte Lip Colours by BECCA Cosmetics have really surpassed my expectations. These are up there with my favourite  matte finishes (comparable to Illamasqua matte lipsticks and Burberry mattes) – and the colours are gorgeous. I’m especially fond of Adele, which is a breathtaking vivid fuschia shade with comfortable wear and amazing lasting power. Watch this space for a giveaway for these (very very soon).

Colour:

Amelia: A lovely warm guava pink matte. It’s not completely opaque with one layer, allowing some of your natural lip colour to peek through- which I think works really well with the delicate feel of this colour. You can build up the colour to almost opaque with a few layers- the colour deepens to a medium rose when layered.

Aurora: coral toned red. I find that it’s a lot closer to true red on my lips than coral/orange compared with how it looks on other reviewers. I think this is probably because my natural lip colour is quite pigmented and cool toned, which shows through a little bit.

Adele: A stunning deep fuschia with full pigmentation- a bit of a surprise given that it looks like a brown toned merlot shade on the bullet. It’s a very saturated intense colour, which is quite bold but very wearable at the same time.

Texture and performance:

I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth and lightweight these mattes were. The formula gives a soft diffused matte look, and did not look the least bit chalky- although my impression is that the texture does vary in the range (Lara found Eloise to be drier than the others). The Ultimate Matte lipsticks in the range that I’ve tried were neither moisturising nor drying on my lips.

Wear time was about 2hrs for Amelia (not as long as I would expect for a matte, but about the same wear time I would get out of a cream finish on me), 4hrs for Aurora, and an amazing 6hrs for Adele before slight fading- with even wear across the lip. Adele survived a large meal and two glasses of wine with hardly any fading! (the wine was consumed in the interest of ‘research’ of course *cough*).
